Training Update

Welcome again to another swimming year.

Training has commenced for the new year with record attendances. This week alone we have averaged 45 swimmers a session.

Today we had the following attendance         Year 7    32 swimmers (awesome)
Year 8    10 swimmers (a little disappointing considering our great attendance rate last year)
                                                                                Year 9    4 swimmers (poor)
Year 10 1 swimmer (really poor)
                                                                                Year 11 4 swimmers (poor)
Year 12 1 swimmers (really poor) Total 52.

The Year 10 and 12 swimmers are really letting the team down. This is a very exciting year, but we need senior swimmers in the pool early in the year. Come on boys.

On a very positive note, the results of Time Trial 1 were very encouraging. I have incorporated a list of Year 7 results(attached) and will post the rest early next week.

Some great pb’s were recorded. Year 7 Trinity pb’s were posted by- Brendan Murphy, Alessio Cottino, Cooper Fare, Anton Cnokolich, William Shackles, Alex Rossi, Luca Rossi, Mitchell Ardagh and Matthew Cirocco. Well done boys.

Just remember, as long as you keep improving, you will get there in the end.

Next time trial Jan 31st

Yr 7 Student Letter

Welcome to Senior School life at Trinity College, we hope that you will find it an exciting and fulfilling experience.

You will recall that we held a swimming trial during Orientation Day. Part of the intention of that trial was to identify those who might represent Trinity College at the Inters (Inter-school) Swimming in March 2014.

The Trinity team comprises of 20 swimmers, from each of the 6 year groups (120 swimmers) and is an amazing experience.

The good news is that your trial was fast enough to warrant inclusion in the year 7 training squad for 2014.

Given that the Inters is held during Week 6 of Term 1, we need to start our training in the holidays.

Holiday swimming training has three great benefits; 1) it is a great way to meet new friends and familiarise yourself with the school. It significantly reduces the amount of anxiety you feel on day 1 of school. 2) you improve your individual speed, skills and fitness and 3) you help Trinity towards our goal of performing well at the Inters.

We are encouraging all students who would like be a part of Trinity Swimming in 2014 to attend training during the holidays.  Obviously, a few of you will be unable to attend at various times due to family commitments.
