Swimming Update

A very big competition week at the pool is coming to a close.

Schools relays

We had 140 TC swimmers attend the Independent Schools Relay Carnival on Saturday. Many swimmers did pb’s and we were so proud of all of our swimmers. Unfortunately, the results have come back in a format that makes it difficult to unravel quickly. If you can remember what heat and lane you swam, you should be able to get your time from the list. I will endeavour to extract the times but it will take longer than first thought.

Junior School

it is really nice to welcome the Junior School swimmers to training ahead of the JPSSA Inters on March 5^th.

Age Champs

What a great standard of competition we had for Age Champs today. Congratulations to all swimmers. There were heaps of pb’s on the day. I have mentioned on a number of occasions lately, that a winning Inters team typically has 60 swimmers under 30 secs for a 50 Free. Today we jumped from 37 to 53 under 30secs. We are getting very close.

Quads & Inters

I will be posting plenty of information about Quads (March 5^th 6.00pm) and Inters (March 12^th 5.00pm) over the next few days. Please keep an eye out for it.

The following boys (in no particular order) have been selected for this carnival. Attendance is expected from all selected. Final teams, with relay order, will be posted mid-week.

Please advise Mr. Mepham early if there is an exceptional reason for you not to attend or if you believe you have been accidentally omitted and you want to swim.

There will be 1-2 individual races and 1-2 relays each. Entry to the event Is $3.40 payable at the gate. Swim team uniform (or PE shirt) to be worn.

PCG Carnivals and Independent Schools Relay Event.

This week is the busiest week of the season. There are 3 PCG Carnivals (Yr 7-9) during school and the Independent Schools Relay Carnival on Saturday, with the Age Champs next Wednesday.

PCG

Please enjoy yourself and remember that we will be running time trials AFTER the carnival if you didn’t get a chance to swim an individual race in a particular stroke. If you are in Freestyle relays, please swim first, if possible, so I can time you properly.

Independent Schools Relay Carnival Sat 21^st HBF (Challenge) Stadium

This carnival replaces the Schools & Colleges Relays.

It is run by me and as such, I will be very involved in the mechanics of the meet, so Siobhan is Head Coach on the day.

Do not get upset at the team you have been put in. I need to get race start times on some people, so you might find yourself in a ‘D or E’ team even though you are an ‘A or B’ swimmer. This is not a mistake, don’t change it.

Yr 7-9 will warm up approx. 10.30 and start at 11.00. The event will finish at about 1.30.

Yr 10-12 will warm up at 1.30 and start at 2.00.

The event will finish at 3.30.

If you are picked (team announced Monday), you are expected to swim. 1^st XI cricketers and rowers may be the only exceptions.

Age Champs

Mr. Leahy will put an Age Champs list out closer to the end of the week. If for some reason, you have been left off the list and you expect to swim, turn up anyway. We’ll always fit you in. Year 7 boys will be on camp and will conduct their Age Champs during sport training Wednesday Week 5.

Breakfasts

The breakfasts have been awesome. Big thank you’ s to all parents who’ve helped. Swimmers, please be polite and say thank you.

Amended Breakfast Roster

Hi all, thanks to Mon’s volunteers. As expected a few ‘bugs’ in the system.  Debugging to continue over the week.

Thanks for those who have responded to the previous email re roster. I have amended the roster accordingly. Please note changes. Actually if you haven’t could you just send me a response so I know you have received this and I have the right email.

IF you’re unable to attend please email Angela (prior) or txt(on the morn of) so that we can activate our reserve volunteer/s who pop in at the beginning to see if all is ok. Best to txt Brendon Mon/Wed/Fri at this stage as he is one of the regular early volunteer ( it also will act as his back up alarm)  BRENDON 0438676962.

Also can you remind your child that we want them to get into the habit of ticking off attendance sheet for breaky prior to the boys jumping in the pool at the start.

Status-Highly Recommended (almost compulsory)

We would love to see as many swimmers there as possible.

Please be aware that it can get a bit windy, so bring a tracksuit.

Parent Volunteers

If any Parent Volunteers could please assemble to help out at Breakfast at 7.30- 7.45 to serve the boys and clean up, that would be fabulous 🙂 **** Please note – we need volunteers for the start as well. 630 am on wards. Therefore two shifts.

Breakfast Coordinator

Melanie Ng did a fabulous job last year in running the breakfasts for your swimmers – she is unable to coordinate the swimming breakfast for 2015.

TC Swimming needs a breakfast new coordinator for 2015 as well as volunteers to fill the roster.
