Reminder-SWIM LEAGUE LAUNCH

logo PSSL

Hi everyone.

As promised, we have been able to activate the new Private Schools Swim League.

The concept is new for swimming and really exciting.

6 teams from schools around Perth (Perth Coll, All Saints, St Hildas, Wes/Pen, CCGS & TC) will be competing in round robin style swim meets over the winter. There will be plenty of prizes and giveaways and hopefully lots of fun mixing and competing with the other schools. Attendance at meets qualifies you for camps and trips away and we will be releasing training details this week.

Don’t forget- to get the ball rolling, we are having our first meet vs Wesley/Penrhos this Saturday June 10th, at TC from 2.30-4.30pm.

  • 50m Freestyle
  • 100m Backstroke
  • 50m Butterfly
  • 50m Breaststroke

Hope to see plenty of you on Saturday. Food available.

All swimmers welcome and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t swum since Inters. It’s just a chance to keep your racing skills sharp.

Swimming Wrap 2017

IMG_5000

Well….2017 Swim season is over. That went too fast for my liking. Please see the results documents attached for Top 100, Full Results and TC Splits/PBS.

My apologies for the delay in releasing them.

I would like to conclude the season with a few points;

  • Leaders- I would like to sincerely thank Callum, Lachlan and Sam for their  excellent leadership this season. I didn’t make it clear how much influence these boys had on the success of the team, but watching the way they lifted their swimming performances as individuals and the way they put everything they had into the team on Thursday made us, as coaches, so proud. The whole Yr 12 group needs to be congratulated for a stunning season.
  • Swimmers- in the wash-up of Inters night, it is easy to look at statistics like pb rate (48%) and feel a little disappointed. Indeed there have been years recently where we have had pb rates over 70%. However, we need to remember, that this season has had much more competition than previous seasons and the improvement rate before the Inters was stunning. So you are actually going into Inters already having improved. To consolidate these times is still an amazing achievement. I think of the likes of Joe Ricci who dropped from 31sec to 27 sec during the year and even though he did not pb on Inters night, he can be very proud of his season. There are more swimmers than ever in that category.
  • Where to from here- I have been talking with boys around the school in the past week and many feel a little flat, as though we may not have achieved our potential. I agree to a certain extent, but I also try to convey the message that, ‘you care now’. What I mean by this is; for the past 5 years or so, most swim team members swam for 6 weeks and forgot about the sport. Their performance at Inters was measured by points alone. Now it seems that more and more swimmers are measuring their performance based on their own potential and goals. This means that you have made a great transformation and learned an incredible life lesson. That is judge yourself based not on what others are doing, but what you are capable of. In other words, you are holding yourselves accountable for your own performances. The question is- are we satisfied with ourselves? What are we going to do about it?
  • New season- as I mentioned to the boys, we are about to launch a school swimming league. This league will comprise 8 schools competing in head-to-head meets and championship rounds, joint training camps and tours. The league will launch with a tour to the Singapore Open swim comp in August . This competition will be open to TC swimmers and will mark the start of the new competition, which runs through Term 4 and some of the summer holidays. It’s a really exciting initiative and I hope everyone will want to be involved. I will elaborate as time goes on.
  • Parents ad supporters- Thank you for a fantastic season, you behind the scenes work was incredible and we really appreciate your efforts. Your support on Inters night inspired the team and I’m sure you were very proud of your boys.
  • Coaches- Fantastic effort on Thursday. Thank you so much for your support and patience. Adam Gage-thank you for your efforts. The job you do is not always publicly visible, but definitely appreciated.

Bring on 2018.
