TC vs WC Swimming Meet

What a start to the new season.

Friday morning we had 70+ swimmers attend the first ‘in season’ meet of the year. It certainly kept the breakfast crew very busy.

The TC v WC meet was also swarming with TC soldiers. Again 70+

It is not always possible to give individual praise in such a large group. However today the coaching group was blown away by the following personal and team achievements;

• The largest number oi Year 12 swimmers EVER at a TC/WC meet 14 senior boys, giving up their Sunday morning, shows us that we have a group who is desperate for TC glory.
• 35 Freestyle pb’s at the first meet of a season. Great job- Kinta Pinchin-Yamada (1.8s), Joe Pinto (12) & Ashton Fewster (8) under 30 for the first time. Well done
• Year 7’s- there are now 13 Year 7’s squashed between 34 and 35 sec. This will be a cracking race to make the PSA team as we’ve never had such a close bunch of boys vying for the top 16 positions.
• Kai Murphy achieved the biggest pb of the day-a whopping 6.35secs. Well done Kai-that’s the TC spirit.

A big thanks to all of the parents who gave up time to help on the day. I am always humbled by the enthusiastic support we receive from the parents. I would still encourage the parents of younger boys (Year 7 and 8) to heed the call and volunteer for the breakfast roster, as there are still a few spots left for 2018.

Let’s keep up the pressure by attending all sessions and hassling the boys who haven’t got out of bed yet to lift their game.

Back to school Swim Team Training has started! The season is underway with our first swimming meet this Sunday.

Breakfast can’t happen without parent volunteers;

Monday: 6:20 – 8:00am
Wednesday: 6:20 – 8:00am
Friday: 6:20 – 8:00am

It’s a wonderful way to meet fellow Swim Team parents and to build that TC community spirit. Please click on the link below to sign up.

Unfortunately the volunteers can’t take cash in the morning as there are no facilities to record payment. Breakfast cost is only $4. Bacon & egg burger, hash browns and a drink – great value we think!

Don’t miss your opportunity to announce you presence in 2018 by attending our time trial morning on Friday of Australia day (26th January) normal training time (6.20am arrive), or more importantly, our first meet of the year against Wesley on Sunday Feb 4th Warm-up 9.30am at TC pool.

I expect all (100+) swimmers at this meet!! Parents, please sign up for a breakfast duty in Term 1 or we may have to cancel it.

Let’s blast in 2018 the ‘TC way’

Mr. Mepham

Swim camp success!

A great turn out for the annual Summer Swim Camp today, a solid group of approximately 35 boys in attendance and I hope this enthusiasm transfers into a winning season for the team!

It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the new Year 7 boys, who seem to be settling in remarkably well.

Training has now been running for almost 3 weeks and the attendance has been strong, although we would like to see more of our year 9, 10 and 11 boys at training on a regular basis to set the example for the younger team members!

A big thank you to our coaches Travis, James, Lucas and Siobhan.

See you at training tomorrow morning!
