Term 4 – 2018

swimming-squads

Welcome back to the 2018/19 TC swim season. We will be commencing training NEXT Friday (Oct 12) at 6.20am and we would love to see as many swimmers as possible.

Training will continue every Monday and Friday morning 6.20-8.00am until the 30th of November.

Once again, come and join us for the new season of training NEXT Friday.

Winter Swimming

swimWinter

Now that winter sport is done and dusted, it is a perfect time to shake the dust off the old TC bathers, wipe down the goggles and get back into some pre-season swim training.

Don’t waste your time playing Fortnite or Snapchatting girls. If you’re not required for athletics, then get back into something far more enjoyable and rewarding.

Don’t forget summer sport is around the corner and that includes swimming.

Mon, Tues, Wed & Thurs 3.30-4.30pm until the end of the term.

Following the success of the Term 2 squad, winter swimming will again be conducted in Term 3. This is an excellent way to cement the fitness gains made in Term 2 or during winter sport.

Who can join- Any students, in Yrs. 4-12. -Non-TC siblings are also welcome. Swimmers will be grouped into squads of similar level.

Notes– 1) Year 7-12 boys should not enroll on their sport training afternoons but may commence/swap once winter sports finishes.

2) Swim team members from Year 7 and 8 (2018) are a high priority for 2019 and the earlier you start, the better your results will be in 2019. This presents a perfect opportunity for you.

3) Changes can be made to days with prior notice, especially at the end of winter sports fixtures.

4) Boys chosen in athletics squads will need to prioritise athletics training.

5) Many of the boys who swam in Term 2 have improved so much that they are now in Swim Team contention for 2019. This is such a great result for them and for Trinity and should encourage others to attempt the same.

We know that many of the boys enjoyed the after-school swimming in Term 2 and would love to continue in Term 3. These boys achieved excellent results, improving their 400m times by 30-60seconds during the term. Matt and Dane are fantastic coaches and look forward to continuing their involvement in Term 3.

TC Winter Swim Programme

swimming-squads

Do you want to stay swim fit during winter 2018 in preparation for the TC assault into 2019? Join the winter swim squad.

I have been asked on many occasions lately, whether Trinity offers winter swimming after school.

The answer is ‘that depends’.

Let me explain. There is no provision for after school swimming to take place in Terms 2 and 3. We would dearly love to offer this service and we have coaches (Myself, Matt Reaper, Jesse Moutia and a number of Year 12 boys) ready and willing to coach.

To cut to the chase, this service needs to be cost neutral to Trinity, therefore it is a user pays service. It can only work if 30+ students wish to swim in Term 2.

2018 is the first year in a long time that I have had 30 enquiries, so we will aim to offer the service.

If the squad is to go ahead, we need more than 30 signees by Friday this week. The sign-up link is below.

www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409094CA8A92CA0FF2-tcwinter

So where to now;

  1. Sign your child up for the session/s that you wish him to participate in.  Note- that Yr 4,5,6 swimmers can attend any session. 7,8,9 swimmers can not sign up for a Monday/Wednesday session, nor can Yr 10-12 sign up for a Tuesday/Thursday (due to after school sport).
  2. If we reach the target of 30 swimmers by Friday 9pm, I will send a confirmation email to each participant (parent) and payment will need to be made via the Trinity Online store-swimming page.
  3. If we do not reach the target of 30 swimmers by Friday 9pm, an apology email will be sent, stating that we are unable to provide the service this year.

I am hopeful that with your support, we will manage to achieve our target number.

Assuming swimming is on, the following applies;

Dates and times- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, 3.30-4.30pm. Term 2 Week 2-9, Term 3 Week 1-8 (Summer sport training will re-commence in Week 9, so pool out of action at this time). No holiday training.

Cost- 1/2 sessions per week = $150 per term,  3/4 sessions per week = $200 per term.

Who can join- All students, Yr 4-12. Non-TC siblings welcome. Swimmers will be grouped into squads of similar level.

In conclusion, we hope you understand the situation. We know that many of the boys enjoyed the after-school swimming in Term 1 and would love to continue in Term 2-3. We would love to keep helping them improve. Round up friends and sign up.

Lost and found

img_3180

Matt Maine (7.1) has misplaced a size 14 swim shirt, 1 x ASICS royal blue sneaker (with white Trinity sock inside) and a pair of Trinity bathers during the Scotch/Trinity shuffle over at PSA inters last week.

Could you please check your swim shirts, bathers, and sports shoes at home to see if the incorrect ones were picked up by accident? Matt’s gear was clearly labeled.

I have a size 16 in my office without a name on it, to claim, if it is yours.
