TC v Wesley v Penrhos Swim Meet!

IMG_4779

The TC swim season (part A) is hurtling towards its conclusion. With this in mind, I would like to express how impressed the coaching team has been with the attitude of the swimmers so far this season.

In 17 seasons with TC swimming, I have not witnessed a more enthusiastic group or one with a clearer purpose. The discipline has been great and we regularly see the ‘1%ers’ being executed in the pursuit of our goals. Great job.

That being said, there is always room for improvement and a big point of difference I see between where we are and where we need to be is CONSISTENCY. Not just consistency of attendance, but also the consistency of effort, discipline and determined focus. With that in mind, please understand that continuing to train through the period from last training  (Nov 30) to the first training of next year (Jan 7), it would be of great benefit for you to continue training in some form. We can facilitate this for you and you will see great improvement in Feb/March. See coaches for more info.

Swim Meet- TEST YOURSELF- We have arranged for a TC v Wesley v Penrhos swim meet on Sat Nov 24th at TC, with a 3.00pm warm up/3.30pm start/5.00pm finish.  We would love all of the swim team to attend, Yr 6 to Yr 11. It will be a big opportunity to strut your muscles in front of the girls and show Wesley that we mean business.

Year 7, 8 and 9 parent volunteers needed!

we-need-you

The TC Swim Team needs more volunteers for breakfast preparation. The breakfast can’t happen without you!

Breakfast;

Monday: 6:20 – 8:00am
Friday: 6:20 – 8:00am

We would love to see some fresh faces in the kitchen, especially from year 7, 8 and 9 school parents. It’s a wonderful way to meet fellow Swim Team parents and to build that TC community spirit. If you have thought of volunteering but haven’t put your name down yet, please click on the link below to sign up. We need your help!

Time Trial Swim Meet

IMG_7790

We will be holding a casual time trial meet next Thursday (November 1st) at TC pool (4.00 warm up) Racing from 4.30-5.30pm. Come along. All are welcome. The time trials will include a selection of 50m and 100m events and will conclude with a free sausage sizzle. The event will be open to TC Swim Squad, TC JS After School Swim Squad + Mercedes/Kingsway swimmers and all siblings can join in too. Hosted by Western Sprint (TC Swimming’s ‘Preferred Swim Club’), you will be able to test yourself against the clock, for some valuable pre-holiday race experience. No sign-up necessary. Just come along and race.

Try out the new TC Backstroke starting wedges. Joe Ricci has been practicing with them and is so confident that he has kindly donated a prize to anyone who beats him in 50m Backstroke next Thursday. That’s the old TC spirit at it’s best!

Training Week 4 (and beyond!)

swim-main1

Hi everyone. Great start to the season. We have had record attendances and that is largely due to the proactive involvement of the Year 11 group (and the delicious breakfasts).

The Year 11’s will be moving onto exam prep etc from next week on, (followed by 10’s and so on), but I’d like to stress that we will be training all the way through until the end of term and would like to remind you that your ability to achieve your goals hinges on your ACTION not your intention. What this means is that it’s not compulsory to stop training as you finish school  for the year. We strongly encourage you to continue until the holidays and beyond. In fact we will be offering training options for you, between end of school and new year if you are keen (more details to follow). Besides, for the seniors, there’s nothing more liberating than early morning training, TC breakfast and going home after watching the rest of the group head to class.

Unfortunately, the volunteers can’t take cash as there are no facilities to record the payment. Breakfast cost is only $4. Bacon & egg burger, hash browns and a drink – great value we think!
